Rwenzoris – Guy Yeoman Hut
From Sean last night: We’re at Guy Yeoman hut, resting before tomorrow’s long nine hour trek back to the park gate. We’re feeling great descending into lower altitude where there’s more oxygen in the air. We’re happy to be coming off the mountain and going home but there’s also a bit of sadness about leaving this great wilderness and the freedom of not having to face the daily pressures of life, of only having to focus on climbing and basic things like getting through bogs. Although we’re looking forward to returning to civilization, it would be great to stay here a few days longer with our muddy, dirty clothes, rudimentary huts, wellies, bogs and floral brollies…
Tonight is our last dinner on the mountain which is vegetable curry and rice – one thing we won’t miss is the food.
What we’ve been dreaming about and the first thing we’ll do when we get back is… have a cold Nile larger!
