Sean’s just called to say they are going down. They have spent 4 days at Nido and the weather hasn’t improved. There is a giant lenticular cloud above them (created by strong winds) and he said it’s not safe to continue ascending. So they are now all descending back down to Base Camp and will be there this afternoon.
What a shame! Is there time to try again or is this it? Thinking of you Molly and Miki. xx
Oh darn! If there’s a chance for a 2nd shot, take it, but if not always remember – Summits are for the ego, mountaineering for the soul! You guys all rock!!! Heidi, proud of you xx
You all have achieved so much and you should be more than proud of your courageous efforts. Enjoy a good meal and the Malbec at base camp. Love u Digs
Thanks guys, we did everything we can but the weather was just too unsafe. We bombed down this afternoon as did everyone else who was waiting the weather out at Nido. We have mixed emotions but there is NOTHING we could do…no weather window for the next 9 days either.
Aggenee – sorry guys! Really hope there is a chance at a second try!!
Well done guys proud of you all, nothing you can do about that which is totally out of your control…..:(
I have NO DOUBT that if there were even the smallest opportunity to summit you would have given it a go!!! Looking forward to have you home Beeno. x
You did your best and we are really so so proud of you!! Well done looking forward to having you back home 😀
Hi Dirk

Mien and the team, what an experience to survive the toughest weather – can’t wait to hear your stories. Mix all your ‘summit concoctions’ and celebrate your bravery. Love you
Hey all,
This is the way of mountains. The adventure is not about you getting to the top, it is about what the mountain allows you to achieve. Thinking of you all, with special thoughts to Miki and Molly.
“Getting to the top is optional. Getting down is mandatory.”

You are all amazing and very well done with the attempt. We can’t begin to imagine the cold, with the wind chill factor added to already inhuman temperatures; in which only Polar bears and fury seals should dare to venture outside. We salute you all. Looking forward to having you back Franzl.
Wilmein, really proud of you my adventurous friend, can’t wait to hear about all about it. Gonna hold you to that promise of the Aconcagua weekend! One pot of steaming hot curry, and several bottles of red coming up!
Hi everyone,
A dissapointment but we’re hodling thumbs for a slight second chance. Keep up the good work and good luck with a the challenges in the cold.
Lots of love.
Janitha
We know you gave it your all, I do not know many people with your determination, but the weather is not for us to change! come down safely, we wish to share in your adventure once you’re home. Looking forward to have you back. Much love.
Hi Miena, As julle net ‘n paar doppe Red Hart ingepak het, het julle sommer die ou bergie uitgedraf voor brekfis. 😉
Sterkte met die afklimslag!Ons is trots op jou!
Hey Marlette
