EBC – Gorak Shep to Pangboche (3847m)

Written By: sean on May 5, 2010 7 Comments

The group will descend all morning, have lunch in Periche and arrive in Pangboche this afternoon.  Before they reach Periche, they may take a small detour to the fascinating High Altitude Science Technology & Research Centre.

Periche  is the last inhabited villiage below Mt Everest.  The Himalayan Rescue Association operates a medical post here and western doctors conduct excellent seminars on Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) most afternoons.  It’s quite a long day’s trek but as they descend, the air will be richer in oxygen and the body and brain thrive on the increased O’s.  You feel great!
