Sorry about the late comms. Just heard from Sean that most of the group reached the summit between 7am and 8am yesterday. Everyone is well and loving life down at the hotel. Here are a few great pics…
Message from Sean – ‘We’ve all arrived at the High Camp (Barafu Hut) after a 4 hour trek from Karanga camp where we spent last night. Everyone is in good shape for the 11pm departure for the summit. Lots of excitement. It’s a little windy and overcast’.
Message from Sean received this morning ‘Everyone has settled in after 10 hours on our feet yesterday. The rule is ‘pole pole’ to acclimatise well. Pole means to go slow in Swahili. And it’s paying off. There’s no data so no pics. Everyone looking good and strong’.
Message from Sean – ‘We are all set to climb to Umbwe caves today (3000m). 29th climb of Kili with a great group of 11 climbers. My old school friend Nicky Constantinidis is joining us, Gavin Whindus and his two sons and all the ‘gangsters’. Looking forward to a fun climb. Chat again soon’.
