
Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Eleven of us summited at 8am this morning in icy conditions. Everyone is shattered but in tears and overjoyed to have made it. Lunch back down at Barafu Hut and then descend all the way to Zanzibar to celebrate!
This morning the group took a slow trek through the wild alpine desertĀ to Barafu Hut (4600m).Ā This afternoon they will try to get as much rest as possible before they depart for the summit at midnight tonight.

Message from Sean yesterday – we got a fantastic view of the peak today. It had snowed the day before so it was beautifully dusted.
Today the group ascended the great Baranco wall, and then descendedĀ over gently sloped hills and valleysĀ to the spectacular Karanga camp (3900m).

Today the walk becomes steeper but very scenic, along narrow valley ridges and over rocky sections towards the Moorland zone.Ā Dinner and overnight at Baranco camp (3950m).
