The team summited at 0630 this morning in challenging conditions with lots of snow and high winds.

The team have reached Karanga camp (4040m).

After months of planning, today is departure day for a great group of family and friends – most from Empangeni. Today the walk got steeper and very scenic, along narrow valley ridges and over rocky sections towards the Moorland zone and to Baranco camp (3950m).  Sean called to say ‘happy days at Baranco camp.  Everyone is strong’.

The group have just arrived safe and sound in Talkeetna – after a 14 hour descent. They were off to go and have their first proper meal – pizza.

They summited on Wednesday evening!  Sean phoned from the Denali pass 9am (our time) to say they were on their way down from the summit. They are absolutely exhausted and will crash at the High Camp for a while before heading down.
