Kili – Day 2 – to Umbwe Caves (3000m)

Heard from Sean late last night – hellish travelling day with flight delays.  But happy days now at the hotel and everyone amped for the climb.

This morning, after breakfast, the group will drive to Umbwe gate (1800m) passing through villages with coffee and banana plantations. At the gate, they will meet their guides and porters and sign the register.  The trail follows a foresty track winding up through natural rain forest.  It then narrows and steepens along a ridge where there are spectacular views of deep gorges and if they’re lucky, glimpses of Kilimanjaro towering above  in the distance. Dinner and overnight at Umbwe caves (approx 5 to 6 hours).
