South Pole – Day 6
The team have landed in Antarctica. Sean sounded ecstatic – describing the scene in front of him as mindblowlingly beautiful. It’s 24-hrs of continuous daylight so as they stepped off the plane at about 1.30am, they would’ve immediately been faced with stunning scenery of snow, ice and mountains.
Sean was seated right in the front of the plane so could see everything and when it came to land, he said the blue ice runway came rushing up at him. It was a seriously anxious moment for Sean – he had mentioned before he departed for the trip about being concerned about the flights in and out – and that there’ve been a number of crashes. But all good this time round.
The crew were then picked up by a tracked vehicle and taken to the camp which is a tent city of about 100 tents of various colours, shapes and sizes. Here their bags will be sorted, they’ll be allocated a tent, enjoy a good meal before training in the art of polar travel begins.
It looks mind blowingly awesome Sean! I hope you’ve packed your speedo for a few squad swim training sessions with the boys 🙂
We miss you at our training sessions, but i’m sure every one of us would rather be in your shoes right now!
Enjoy every minute Sean.
Cheers,
Kobus
