South Pole – Day 11

Written By: sean on December 3, 2010 One Comment

Sean’s just woken up and is busying preparing his gear for the day ahead.  This can take some time as he has to make sure he has the correct clothing and layering of thermals, socks, light weight fleece, heavier fleece, shell pants, shell jacket, a balaclava, hat, face mask, liner gloves, fleece gloves, goggles etc etc.   Any exposed skin will become frostbitten so it’s vital every part of the body is covered.

The crew only managed 5 kms yesterday because of a delay with one of the ski doos (back-up snowmobiles) not working properly. They will have to make up the lost kilometers over the next few days.  Otherwise everything is going well and they’re off to have breakfast – oats, eggs on toast and some of the best coffee Sean’s ever tasted.
