South Pole – Day 15

Written By: sean on December 7, 2010 2 Comments

The group hasn’t been able to move since yesterday – winds are blowing 15 to 18 knots and it’s a complete whiteout.  Conditions are terrible.  They’ve had to hunker down in their tents for over 36 hours.  It’s pretty miserable said Sean.  The weather forecast doesn’t look great either with the bad weather set to continue for another 24 to 36 hours. At least it gives everyone time to rest and recover – and they are comfy in their tents, with lots of snacks and reading material to keep them going…and time for a birthday celebration. It’s Waleed’s birthday today – Happy 60th Birthday Waleed!

Hang in there but don’t fret the weather in Sunny SA has been bad and I hear the weather in England is no better than the south pole.

    Dear Waleed, Haitham and Mohammed,
First, we wish you Waleed a happy “very worm” birthday… As it is so cold and windy up there, or actually down there, it is as windy and rainy in Jeddah today!!! Surely this trip is one of a life time and we’ll wait for your recommendations…
Enjoy it and have a safe trip back… Next trip it’s going to be the empty quarter; I’ll join you in that one, I guess same look but different feel and temperature…
    Best regards and keep worm…
