Rwenzoris – Bujuku

Received from Sean last night: “Today we went through the Upper and Lower Bigo Bog and they way you get through a bog is by ‘tussocking’.  Tussocking basically means jumping from one tuft of grass to the next. And the rule of getting through a bog is that if you miss a tussock, you are ‘In’ – this happened to everyone today.  We all ended up flat on our faces in the mud somewhere along the line – it was quite comical but also quite tough going.  We are very pleased to be at Bujuku hut at 4000 meters above sea level, with the surrounding peaks towering above us. At the moment the temperature is about 0 degrees Celsius. For dinner tonight we had mixed vegetables, boiled potatoes and boiled cabbage so there’s lots of energy to get us up to Elana Hut tomorrow.  Everyone is feeling strong and well and we’re all loving it”.
