The team departed from Durban early yesterday morning and after nearly 30 hours of travelling, arrived in Punta Arenas (which is at the southern tip of Chile) at 5am this morning. The next two days will be spent going through equipment and safety checks, being briefed on the expedition ahead including: flight arrangements, the current weather, Antarctica’s environmental policy and what to expect on their arrival in Antarctica.

Lots of thoughts are with you -crazy to think that we were sitting around chatting in your living room just 2 nights ago and now you’re at the bottom of the world! Go well and try not to freeze too much. We,in Durbs, in the meantime will try not to boil and just keep the place hot and steamy for your return. Love and best wishes to you and the team, Tish
Yey, you’ve finally got those lovely boots back and are on your way to the frozen continent. Wow and gosh! Please look after yourself -and courier some ice up here. Love,as always, Tish
