South Pole – The Unlimited Child SP expedition has arrived
The team arrived at the South Pole at 12.30am our time (Sunday) – but officially at 19.30pm their time on Saturday 21 January.
From Sean: Zack and I set a world record today. We leopard crawled 500m to the South Pole after a 22km ski. Why not? Most importantly we made it to the most Southern point on Earth while you were asleep. Sneaked in quietly. We are currently spinning like a top, upside down on the bottom of the globe. And pretty hammered from the exertion and chill but bouncing around exuberantly knowing we’ve succeeded. Party time!
Nzuzo celebrated being the youngest SA black dood to reach the Pole. Man was he wasted but chuffed!
All in all – what an expedition: great positive company, brilliant weather, maximum wilderness exposure and no mosquitoe bites.
Sweet.
Seano, Big Buch, Pete B and team – so excited to have got that call yesterday lunch time all the way from the deepest, deepest deep South – that was very special – thanks guys – as I said, I’m so incredibly proud of you fellas – what you have accomplished in that forebidding, stark, desperately cold climate,is pretty sensational – and at your age Buch and Pete B – you’re making the rest of us feel very guilty. Seano – that tried and tested body has held out – fantastic – tough guy! Buch, what you are doing for and through the Unlimited Child is heartwarming, very positive and very special. Have a great trip back. Seano – the hot tub awaits you, after Ac Ac Ac Ac Ac – and you don’t have to do the compulsory slide into the cold pool. To Zack and Barney, all the very best. And to history making Nzu – heartiest of congratulations. Can’t wait to meet you, frostbite and all !! Pete R
