Mt Aconcagau – day 11
From Sean – Today is our rest day in preparation for the summit push. We had a good taste of the size of the mountain yesterday when we pushed up to Nido de Condores 5500m. We are a good, light and fast team and if the weather is favourable we hope to get to the top on Saturday. It’s very dry and dusty on the mountain as there isn’t much snow and ice around and water is at a premium. The winds over the next two day are predicted to get up to 105km per hour, definitely going to be some grit grinding ahead as we prepare to camp at Nido on Thursday and Colera (5900m) on Friday. Everyone is in great spirits. Andrew is enjoying the beautiful views. Molly and Wilmien can’t believe they are back for a second attempt and are pleased it’s sunny compared to last year’s snow.
