Mt Kilimanjaro – travel day

The expedition had a shaky start, when this week we were notified by the airline that the flights everyone was booked on from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam were cancelled. This was due to the airlines’ new aircraft not arriving from Heathrow.  We scrambled to get everyone on another airline to make sure the schedule was not delayed.  Thankfully the group are now on their way to Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m).   They will land in Dar es Salaam this afternoon and then depart for Kili this evening.  Overnight at the Protea Aishi hotel. The climb on the Umbwe route begins tomorrow.
