EBC – Dingboche – Rest/acclimatisation day

Written By: sean on May 1, 2010 3 Comments

Heard from Sean last night – everyone is well and in good spirits.  The crew will take the day off today to allow their bodies to adjust to the rearefied atmosphere before ascending to higher altitudes.  The secret of safe acclimatisation is to ‘climb high and sleep low’.  A ‘day off’ means hiking up the hill immediatley behind Dingboche, which drops steeply down to Periche.  Or taking a longer option which is to trek up the Imja Tsee valley towards Island Peak.  The views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Cho Polu from here are outstanding.  The will stay in Dingboche another night before heading to Loboje tomorrow at 4931m

Paul, Nikki’s hubbie here – excellent to be able to follow your progress and everyone seems to be doing so well. The Graze looks appetising! ‘Take it easy, take it easy….’ – the Eagles
