Today, the group will leave Confluencia and trek for approximately 8 hours to base camp – Plaza de Mulas at 4250m (Plaza de Mulas means mule place in Spanish). The trek to base camp is long but the terrain is mostly flat until the last hour.

Heard from Sean last night – all going well.  The weather is perfect – hot and dry.  So hot that Sean’s chocolate was melting in his tent.  There is only one shower available in the camp so instead of queuing, a few in the group took a refreshing dip in the river close by.
