Mt Everest Advanced Base Camp (Northern side)

Received from Sean yesterday ‘Team Tibet in Kathmandu…got the permit and visas today which is a massive relief. Flying into Lhasa tomorrow (Saturday). Too much excitement. Will introduce the team once we get there…’

Mt Kilimanjaro – Day 6 – Uhuru Peak (5895m)

They reached the summit at 7.15 this morning (6.15am SA time).  It was a long night and the team is exhausted but exhilarated.  A big congrats to the Viljoen family.

They have all reached Barafu camp (4600m). This afternoon the group will rest and try to sleep as much as possible before being woken for dinner at 10pm. They depart at about midnight for the summit.  Holding thumbs for good weather.

Today the group of 16 started their climb through the rain forest to the Umbwe caves campsite (3000m).

The group is safely back in Mendoza. With absolutely no chance of a weather window within the next week or so there’s no reason to stay on at Base Camp.  The plan is to tour the area,  enjoy the local food and wine and relax until they depart for SA on Thursday…
