Mt Elbrus – day 6

From Sean – ‘ today we went up to Pastukhov Rocks (4700 m).  We’ve descended and are camped at 4300 m. Weather isn’t great – white out right now and snow showers forecast for the next few days.  In our tents and busy cooking 20 minute noodles’.

Message from Sean yesterday morning  – ‘Best camp at 4200m with a view.  Weather good for now’.

Mt Elbrus – day 3

The group flew from Moscow to Mineralnye Vody (Mineral Water) this morning and then drove for 3 hours to Terskol.  Tony, Sean and Dido are frustratingly still without their gear bags.  We are all hoping that the bags arrive in Terskol tomorrow during their acclimatisation hike up the ski lift, and along Cheget ridge to about 3400m.  Brand new silver studded […]

Sean, Dido and Tony arrived in Moscow – all fine but without their gear bags!  Tomorrow they leave for Terskol so let’s hope Etihad airways moves mountains to get the missing bags delivered before Thursday.

Departure day for the group – well, for half the group.  The Fuchsloch family of 4 are already in Russia enjoying the sights of St Petersburg and will meet Tony, Dido and Sean tomorrow in Moscow at the Aquamarine hotel.

Their flight departs at 20:30 tonight from Joburg, will go via Abu Dhabi and will land in Moscow at 14:00 tomorrow.
