Mt Aconcagua – departure tomorrow

Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak

Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Eleven of us summited at 8am this morning in icy conditions. Everyone is shattered but in tears and overjoyed to have made it. Lunch back down at Barafu Hut and then descend all the way to Zanzibar to celebrate!

This morning the group took a slow trek through the wild alpine desert to Barafu Hut (4600m).  This afternoon they will try to get as much rest as possible before they depart for the summit at midnight tonight.

Kilimanjaro – to Karanga camp

Message from Sean yesterday – we got a fantastic view of the peak today. It had snowed the day before so it was beautifully dusted.

Today the group ascended the great Baranco wall, and then descended over gently sloped hills and valleys to the spectacular Karanga camp (3900m).

Kilimanjaro – to Baranco camp

Message from Sean – everyone doing well after a great sleep. Eggs, oats and pineapple for brekkie. Beaut weather and views of the summit dome.

Today the walk becomes steeper but very scenic, along narrow valley ridges and over rocky sections towards the Moorland zone.  Dinner and overnight at Baranco camp (3950m).

Mt Elbrus – Day 10 & 11

This morning everyone will be recuperating in Terskol from a very tough 5 days on the mountain. Later on, they will drive to Mineralyne vody airport for the flight this evening to Moscow.

Tomorrow will be spent at leisure in Moscow. Home time for most of the team tomorrow evening.
