Mt Aconcagua – Base Camp

Today the team trekked for about 8 hrs to Plaza de Mulas (Base Camp 4200m). During the season, the foot of the mountain is transformed into a little village with hundreds of colourful tents and because it’s easily accessible for transport mules, there are heaps of unexpected luxuries brought in. Mt Aconcagua expedition Jan 2016 – Confluencia

Mt Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak – highest point in Africa

Mt Kilimanjaro – Barafu hut

After a slow walk through the wild alpine desert, everyone has arrived at Barafu hut (4600m).  This afternoon they will eat and rest well in preparation for the summit bid, departing at approx 11pm tonight.

Mt Kilimanjaro – Baranco camp

Message from Sean – ‘Yesterday was a great day.  Perfect trek through the rain forest and everyone is in good shape’.

Today’s trek involves walking along narrow valley ridges and over rocky sections towards the Moorland zone.  The walk becomes steeper and very scenic.  Dinner and overnight at Baranco camp (3950m).

Today the team hiked from Umbwe gate (1800m), through the rain forest and up to Umbwe caves (3000m).

Message from Sean ‘We’re eating our way up the ‘hill’.   You can’t fault cucumber soup, avo salad, chicken and chips, water melon, mango and oranges’.
